Buzzin’: 35 North Coffee

Buzzin’: 35 North Coffee explores a new coffee shop in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They’re serving up their own freshly roasted beans and want to provide a quality cup of coffee along with some delicious treats and lunch items. You’ll definitely want to grab a friend and head out to visit this place as soon as you can!

The Duke City’s newest coffee shop, 35 North Coffee is serving up great coffee made from their own freshly roasted beans and treats that will make you forget you ever muttered the word, “diet.”

Feeling a sense of wanderlust looking at this map…take us to the coffee belt please

And thanks to a Downtown ‘Burque-savvy friend, we had the pleasure of stopping in to check it out for ourselves. It did not disappoint. As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted by two lovely, smiling ladies who could make the most anti-morning person come alive inside. And that’s before you’ve even tried their coffee. Helmed from Santa Fe, this adorable little shop in the Country Club Plaza area is “providing conscious quality coffee from crop to cup” – we think that’s pretty darn cool.

Mmmmm..latte love

They have everything from a macchiato that will instantly wake you up to an always-on-tap nitro brew. Also, tea lovers unite: a source aka our friend who brought us here says the London Fog is bomb dot com. And if you like living on the wild side, you can try a dirty chai latte (our personal favorite), which has the best of both worlds. Oh, and did we mention that they make their own chai tea, too…say what?!

Exposed brick, marble counters, good coffee and a friendly staff…what more could you ask for?

If you like to have a little somethin’ somethin’ with your coffee, they have beignets (a deep-fried pastry with powdered sugar sprinkled on top and chocolate or raspberry dipping sauce…need we say more?) and various treats in their display case screaming for you to gobble them up!

A fresh and warm pain au chocolat compliments the coffee so well

On our first visit, we chose the pain au chocolat (a chocolate croissant), which in a word was…DIVINE. But, since we’ve never been one to be limited with our words, let’s just say, it was the best pain au chocolat this side of France. The croissant (and you have to read it like “cwah-son” because that makes you waaaay more cultured and French haha) was so flaky and delicious. We could have possibly died and gone to heaven after eating it. You can tell a lot about a coffee shop by the small attention to details, such as the authentic flakiness of the cwah-son (sorry, we’ll stop trying to be fancy and french, but really who else remembers the Mad TV skit “Can I have your number?“)!? Throwback.

But, back to business…we could write a love song solely about the croissant, but really it wouldn’t be fair to the ooey gooey chocolate nestled inside. The combination of the two is what dreams are made of and it’s one of those treats that you eat verrrry slowly as to savor every little morsel.

Heeeeeeyyyy MACCHIATO (please tell us you got that reference…)!

35 North Coffee may be the new kid on the block in Albuquerque, but they’re definitely holding their own. We can’t wait to come back and try their lunch menu, which serves up sandwiches like a croque monsieur (fancy grilled ham and cheese sandwich with béchamel sauce) and fresh salads. All we can say is don’t walk, run to 35 North Coffee and find your latitude.
