Jitter Bug: Coffee Shops with Great Music

We think coffee is synonymous with music and love nothing more than walking into a coffee shop with good tunes playing through the speakers. And since we’re sure we’re not the only ones who enjoy the added ambience of good music in a coffee shop, we compiled a handful of coffee shops that we thought created the best #coffeeshopvibes with its music.

Ark Coffee Co. (La Mirada, Ca)

There are many things we love about Ark Coffee Co., but one of the things that stands out to us the most is the great soundtrack playing in the background every time we come in. The songs seem to be perfectly curated to flow into each other providing a nice mix of everything. We’ve personally walked out of Ark with no less than four new songs to listen to on our way to our next destination!

Giorgi Porgi (Los Angeles, Ca)

So, this is a hard one simply because we’re going off of only TWO visits (anybody who’s ever been to Giorgi Porgi knows that the hours are sporadic, but WELL worth the wait). And if we’re being totally honest here, this is a favorite place of ours in DTLA and is one of those hidden spots that we like to hold near to us. Georgia and Christopher are so welcoming and when (not if) you make it to Giorgi Porgi, you should take it all in because THIS is a coffee experience like no other. We’ll talk more about this amazing coffee shop in a later post, so stay tuned! But, for now, let’s just talk about the music. At the end of a long bar, you’ll find a gigantic, circular B&O Play speaker that fills the entire room with house music. Maybe it’s just us, but the music seems to help the caffeine flow faster through your body – perfect for when you’re needing a real burst of energy!

Deep Space Coffee (Albuquerque, Nm)

We’ll never forget our time in Albuquerque, NM and we’ll definitely never forget the music and listening parties at Deep Space! There’s something special about coming together and listening to a new album track by track in a room full of perfect strangers. It’s an unspoken bond that transcends us from those perfect strangers to a community. Maybe you’re reading this from outside of Albuquerque and if so, do yourself a favor and add this to your “Coffee shop must” list. You can read all about Deep Space in our post here.

Recreational Coffee (Long Beach, Ca)

Recreational’s illuminated sign next to the door simply says, “Drink good coffee,” but they should also add, “And listen to good music” because their playlist really makes for a great atmosphere. We like to sit at the bar while sipping on a warm cup of coffee and bob our heads to the music, maybe embarrass ourselves and sing a lyric or two. The good news is that the baristas have fun with the music, too so we don’t feel as weird getting our groove on.

Menotti’s (Venice, Ca)

There’s not much to say about Menotti’s that hasn’t already been said before, but here’s to trying. Besides the fact that the coolest bunch of people work there and Nicely is a master with his latte art making skillz, the music selection is perfection! The tunes blasting throughout the shop that’s just a few steps behind the iconic Venice Beach sign, consists of classic hits from the 70s. Think: The Doors, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix. As the iconic Wooderson once said, “Alright, alright, alright…”

And there you have it, five coffee shops that come to mind when we think good music and great coffee! We know there are tons more coffee shops that provide a great atmosphere with their music and would love to know what some of your favorites are!
