Top 5: Best Patios to Enjoy Your Daily Cuppa

We live in the land of 70 degree weather all year ’round and have some of the best al fresco patios this side of Italy. It’s easy to take things for granted living in beautiful Southern California! So, in honor of those gorgeous Southern California days, we decided to send out a list of some of our favorite coffee shops where you can enjoy the nice warm sun and a cuppa!

So what if the groundhog saw his shadow yesterday marking six more weeks of winter?

We live in the land of 70 degree weather all year ’round and have some of the best al fresco patios this side of Italy. It’s easy to take things for granted living in beautiful Southern California! And when January scared us a little and (almost) made us forget what the sun looked like, we started to worry. Don’t get us wrong, we love using gloomy days to read a book and sipping on a hot coffee, but we need the sun.

Thankfully, January decided to end on a high note and give us a glimpse of summer weather all weekend, which reminded us that those sunny days are always right around the corner. So, in honor of those gorgeous Southern California days, we decided to send out a list of some of our favorite coffee shops where you can enjoy the nice warm sun and a cuppa!

Kit Coffee, Newport Beach

Kit Coffee is all about serving up a latte with a smile and their patio lends to some of the best OC breezes while sipping on your drink of choice. We love that not only do they have a beautiful shop inside, but the patio is a space large enough for everyone to hang out, read and enjoy some our their delicious toasts – for savory, try the avocado toast (it has pickled veggies on top) and for sweet, try the rosemary ricotta toast drizzled with honey! What’s more, your furry friends are welcome to join in on the fun and bask in the sun with you! If you still need anymore convincing, here’s a post we wrote when they first opened.

Dripp, Fullerton

In the heart of downtown Fullerton, you’ll find Dripp. As soon as you walk under the arched walkway with the Spanish-style tiling and go towards the door, you just know you’re in for a treat. But, what we love about Dripp is what they lack in indoor seating (it’s heavy with college kids studying on any given day), they gain in outdoor seating; perfect if you want some fresh air while enjoying a mid-afternoon affogato. Since nights are still a bit on the cool side, Dripp has heaters throughout the patio to keep you warm and toasty!

Steelhead Coffee (Steelcraft location), Long Beach

Steelhead Coffee has always been one of our favorite spots in LB and loved it so much that we even wrote a blog post about them (here)! So, you better believe we were highly anticipating for Steelcraft, Long Beach’s first storage container outdoor eatery (say that ten times fast!). So, once opening week came along, we had to visit and just as we suspected, it’s awesome! Although Steelhead is on the outside, be sure to grab your coffee, then head in for waffles, ramen, beer, shaved ice, pizza, chocolate and the ultimate comfort food, bacon and pork. There’s something for everyone here and we love how you can just go around trying everything all in one place while enjoying the beautiful weather, whether you want to hang out on one of two patios or lounge on the grass.

Ink & Bean Coffee Saloon and Workshop, Anaheim

Ink & Bean is nestled in a quaint little street called Center Street Promenade in downtown Anaheim. Twinkle lights criss cross above you as you walk around to the various shops and restaurants on this street. But, what we love about this spot is the extended patio outside complete with a “Take a book, leave a book” airstream filled with all sorts of books (seriously consider bringing a book here to leave because you will find a book that you want to keep, trust us). And if you want a little somethin’ along with your coffee, head next door to the cheese shop and share a charcuterie board with someone special!

Hidden House Coffee, San Juan Capistrano

The first time we visited Hidden House’s original location in San Juan Capistrano, we didn’t know what to expect. We knew it was a yellow house, so how hard could it be to find?! And boy, does it live up to its namesake. The little yellow house is along a narrow road filled with a mix of locals and visitors alike and right across from the train station. In fact, if you ever get a chance, you should definitely take the train down to SJC and grab a cup of coffee at Hidden House. The outdoor patio is shaded by big trees and is the perfect location to sit back and unwind. C’mon in!

And there you have it, our list of a few coffee shops that have a great patio. It’s not even about the patio per se, but more about gathering around with a group of your friends and enjoying the fresh air and some coffee. For those of you looking for some LA coffee shops with a nice patio, we’ve got you covered and will be sharing those soon, so stay tuned! Also, we know we added Long Beach to this list, which is LA County, but hopefully you guys will forgive us once you visit Steelcraft. Plus, shout out to LBC because that’s where the majority of our friends live and where we like to hang out the most! Hope we can catch you guys hanging out at one of these spots in the future, too. And be sure to tag us @dailycoffeerun on Instagram so we can see where you guys like to hang out!
